1990 Catamaran Ron Given 14.8m
This Ron Given 14.8m Catamaran has an excellent layout and good sailing ability. Hull construction is glass over cedar planks, with the decks and cabin being a mix of ply/foam/ply. First launched in 1990, she was fully refitted and repainted 2009 - 2013, including fitting new engines being installed in 2010. There was also a general upgrade in 2021 including new carpets, curtains, painting inside and the upper decks were checked and repainted as well as a new bimini.
The antifouling is Copper Coat which was first applied in 2012 and has just been cleaned and touched up again in October 2024. The mast was new in 1989 and rigging new in 2010. The mast and rigging had checks in 2010, 2015 and 2021. The main sail was reconditioned in 2021 by UK Sailmakers, who also supplied a new screecher at the same time. The Linton Sails Genoa was new in 2015. There is also a inner forestay Storm Sail which has not been used for nearly 20 years.
The layout is good with good size well protected, safe cockpit with two helms and plenty of seating. There are double doors to the saloon which is light with 360 degree views. A large curved settee is central with a chart table to starboard. The galley is in the port hull, but open to the main saloon, so has easy communication and does not feel hidden away. There is a full set of appliances in the galley
Each hull has a double cabin in the aft, a single cabin midships and a wetroom with toilet and shower in the bow. So comfortable living and sleeping for 6 people.
Being well set up for cruising, there is a long list of equipment including solar, wind generator, shore power and an inverter/charger. Plenty of electronics at each helm and at the inside nav station. An Aqua Pro 2.7m dingey on davits and new 3hp Mercury outboard is also included, as is an 8 person life raft.
